Kindergarten "Elf" Portraits

Kindergarteners in Ms. Sara's crew started drawing portraits. The kids observed that all the portraits had a mouth nose and eyes. They also had a pattern on the shirt and a hat on. They are doing such a great job. Coloring with oil pastel and later they will paint the background and add a little glitter.

5th Grade did a glue line drawing of at least two pumpkins using overlapping to show space. They used contour lines to show roundness of the pumpkin. Students then  looked at the painting The Starry Night by Vincent Van Gogh. The sky of their Pumpkin pictures is based on The Starry Night Painting.

Ms. Sara's Crew had their first clay experience in the art room. First they made pinch pots by rolling a sphere of clay and sticking their thumb in the sphere, they had to pinch and turn and pinch and turn until they got a little bowl. The second clay project was an elbow pot. They roll their clay into a sphere then they use their elbow to make a pot. The third clay project is making snow men. They learned how to score and slip what we do to attach two pieces of clay together. Can't wait until they are glazed to see these wonderful creations!
