Origami Crane

Click on the link above to watch how to fold an origami crane using an old magazine page.

I think you all know how much I LOVE Origami the ancient Japanese art of folding paper.
Ori means folding and Gami means paper. I Love that!

Typically I only teach this to my 6th Graders but there's this ancient legend that if you fold 1000 paper cranes the Gods will grant you a wish. Maybe if we all fold 1000 and wish for healing from this pandemic it will happen!  I know I've personally folded many more than 1000 but one time I intentionally folded 1000 and kept them all until I was finished and my wish DID come true! After I finished I gave them away because they happen to be a sign of peace too.
I used to read the picture book Sadako and the 1000 paper cranes to my 6th graders as they were folding theirs, but I could never get through it without crying....It's such a great book.

I may have a little obsession with origami cranes 😊😊😊
